Typically three to four cellar doors in a full day, depending on how long you linger at each one. We don’t rush you through — if you’re deep in conversation with a winemaker or want to spend more time at a particular stop, we adjust. The goal is quality over quantity. Three/Four unhurried, memorable visits beats five rushed ones every time.

Dress for the weather and however you feel most comfortable — there’s no dress code and no wrong answer. If your group wants to dress up and make a day of it, absolutely go for it — you’ll fit right in. If you’d rather keep it relaxed, that works too. The crowds on our tours are always mixed.
One thing worth thinking about regardless of what you wear: comfortable shoes. Many cellar doors involve gravel paths, uneven ground, or outdoor areas, so leave the stilettos at home.
A few region-specific things to keep in mind:
Barossa Valley — our small group tours have a distinctly relaxed, intimate feel. You’ll often be sitting with winemakers in their sheds and barrel rooms rather than a polished tasting room. Smart casual is perfect, but don’t overthink it — the Barossa is unpretentious.
McLaren Vale — coastal influence means the weather can be variable. Layers are smart, especially in cooler months. The vibe is relaxed and a little more eclectic.
Adelaide Hills — the coolest of the three regions, literally. Even in summer it can be noticeably cooler up in the Hills, so bring a layer you can add or remove through the day.
We provide bottel water
If you’re a mixed group on a private charter, we can make it just as worth while for the non-drinkers with great alternatives throughout the day and a discount for them — get in touch and we can talk through your options. However if your on our small group Barossa wine tour then honestly probably not the right fit. Our Barossa small group tours are built around the wine experience: the tastings, the winemakers, the cellar doors.
Children are welcome on private tours where the whole group is comfortable with the pace. Public tours are 18+ as the day is built around tasting and a long lunch. Family-friendly itineraries can be arranged on request.
Our small group semi-private tours run with a maximum of 8 guests — small enough that you’ll meet everyone and never feel rushed. Private tours are sized to your group, from 2 up to multi-vehicle groups of 150+
Yes, and we encourage it. Every cellar door we visit sells direct, and our guides are happy to organise shipping to your home (within Australia or internationally) so you don’t have to carry anything.
Yes — we run tours seven days a week, every season. The wine regions are exceptional year-round, but two seasons stand out. Vintage (February–April) is the most visceral — the vines are laden, the wineries are busy in the best way, and you can sometimes watch the harvest in action. Winter (June–August) brings a quieter, more intimate atmosphere — fewer crowds, open fires in the cellar doors, and winemakers who have more time to talk. Spring and autumn offer beautiful scenery and comfortable temperatures. There’s genuinely no bad time to visit
Yes — and we’d recommend booking as early as possible, particularly for weekends, the vintage season (February to April), and public holidays. Our small group tours are capped at 8 guests and sell out regularly. Last-minute bookings are sometimes possible but not guaranteed. If you have a specific date in mind, don’t leave it too late.
Going independently is fine if you’re happy to drive (which means someone misses out), navigate unfamiliar back roads, and hope the cellar doors you pick are having a good day. A guided tour is worth it when you want behind-the-scenes access that walk-ins rarely get — private tastings with winemakers, doors that aren’t open to the public, and a host who knows the stories behind every glass. Our tours are capped at 8 guests maximum, so it never feels like a bus trip.
South Australia has three outstanding regions within easy reach of Adelaide, each with its own character. The Barossa Valley (70 minutes north) is iconic — old vines, big Shiraz, and a sense of history you can feel. McLaren Vale (45 minutes south) combines world-class wine with coastal scenery and a relaxed atmosphere. The Adelaide Hills (30 minutes east) is cool-climate and produces exceptional Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. We operate private tours to all three — tell us what you’re after and we’ll match you to the right region.
It depends on the tour type.
On our small group boutique tours, we select all the wineries — and that’s intentional. Our reputation is built on the quality of the experiences we take people to, and we protect that standard carefully. Every stop is chosen because we genuinely consider it one of the best available in the region, not because of any partnership or commercial arrangement. We’re not affiliated with any particular winery. You get our honest, independent judgement — and the results speak for themselves.
On a private charter, the day is yours to shape. You can nominate specific wineries, leave it entirely in our hands, or anything in between. Before your tour we’ll talk through your wine preferences and what you’re hoping for, and we’ll build the day around that. The same quality standard applies regardless.
Our team replies to every enquiry within a few hours. Get in touch and we’ll help you find the right tour.
